There's no excuse to being artless
No point of having any assets
Because if you can't flaunt it
You can't prove that you've got it
You must sell virtue in a drawing room
by sitting very erect at a 45 degree angle in your chair
your ankles delicately intertwined
your face averted, half inclined.
And your lids lowered.
When the absence of a thing still has to be proved
The art is taught by those who have it
And probably feel they've suffered for it.
What makes us women is women.
The action, the thought, the behavior;
The power to project in order to attract;
The will to come out of it intact.
.
bravo! This one deserves to be in every drawing room in hard binding. too piercing to be just poetry. brutal truth.
ReplyDeleteAssets are not for u to show, they are for others to see. If u have it, they will see it anyway. Flaunting just makes it look cheaper.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous. Dude. Which asset you talking about? And I don't think you got the point of the poem. Read it again, and note the disgust in the first line of the third paragraph. Because social conditioning is exactly what I'm talking of here: not giving an opinion, but stating fact. As I always do. [BTW, I guess you're a man?]
ReplyDelete@Anonymous. And I think you need to read the last line again.
