Hearts of Fire

From a distance I watch them doing their thing

Unraveling the mystery of the elements

Of their relationship:

The things that keep them together.

They're united in their love of the mystical,

The depths of which they explore

When they're high:

And not quite in their senses.

And the world outside their realm is meaningless

Every second person is an idiot

Committing the gravest mistake:

Being oblivious to the greatest truth.

The greatest truth is the biggest secret.

It's the glue that binds their spirits together.

It's the thing you realize when you've gone too far:

The boundary was semi-permeable.

On the other side of the boundary are fools

Who ignore their heart's bemoaning

And are cowards afraid to step the line:

They're too weak to let go of the things that hurt them.

Hearts of fire are blazing hot

incensed by life's idiosyncracies.

Too free to live for the regular things:

Too addicted to be free.
