Innocence

.

The simple man inflicts no pain
And upholds beliefs he was taught as a child
And survives by striving to never change.
He measures life's worth with a measuring stick.

He yearns to bend down to Mother Earth
And rub his cheek on her smooth warm belly.
His tears roll down his virgin nose
And she absorbs them so no one can see.

The simple man tries to feel no pain.
He strives to stay away from murky waters
And believes that he will remain unstained:
Safe. In Mother Earth's arms.
